- CHRISTEL BLOT -
PhD student in Marine Ecology
I recently graduated with a master's degree in 'Functional ecology and conceptualization of terrestral and aquatic ecosystems' with distinction at the University of Montpellier, France.
My enthusiasm to work in aquatic ecology started during my first year of master, where I learnt about streams ecology and functioning
as well as fish habitats. My interest increased as I worked on macroinvertebrate community structure in alpine streams during my final master's project.
Along my professional experiences I had the opportunity of working on different taxa which developed my curiosity for ectotherms such as fishes and insects. Their world is often overlooked and less attractive to the public although they are greatly impacted by environmental changes. I also developed various skills from GIS to statistics, and I am always eager to learn new ways of analyzing the data.
This is why I would like to pursue my career in studying the impacts of environmental and anthropogenic change on aquatic ecosystems, with conservation and management implications.
